Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed in a fire that ravaged part of a primary healthcare centre in Oyo State.
The healthcare centre is located at Masifa, Idi Araba in Ogbomoso.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Saturday evening. It was learnt that the solar panel room of the healthcare centre was engulfed by fire.
Properties worth millions of naira were affected during the inferno. However, no life was lost in the incident.
DAILY POST also gathered that properties worth millions of naira were affected in another fire incident at a plastic industry in Saki.
The plastic industry, located at the General Hospital area in Saki, was affected by fire on Sunday.
DAILY POST gathered that the solar power system installed in the factory store was damaged by the fire. The solar system and some plastic materials worth millions of naira were said to have been affected.
Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service Maroof Akinwande confirmed both incidents in statements made available to DAILY POST on Sunday.
He said: “The distressed call was received at exactly 8:55 pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025. On getting there, it was a solar panel room of the healthcare center engulfed by fire. Our officers swiftly swung into action, and the fire was restricted from spreading to nearby other parts of the building and properties. No casualty was recorded and properties worth millions of naira were saved. The fire incident could be as a result of heated solar power batteries, ignited from plugged electrical gadgets.”
Akinwande also confirmed the incident at the plastic industry.
According to him: “This agency received the distress call on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at exactly 12:50 pm at Saki Fire Station. Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, we discovered that the solar power system installed in the store was engulfed by fire. We quickly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to other sections of the factory.
“No casualty was recorded, the fire slightly affected the solar system and nearby plastics. Fire Service was able to save properties worth billions of naira. The fire was as a result of electrical faults from the solar power system.”
