Fire guts local government secretariat building in Oyo

Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed following a fire incident at the Ogbomoso Local Government Secretariat in Oyo State on Thursday.

Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday night.

He said, “Upon arrival, we met the incinerator machine on fire, well alighted and we swiftly swung into action, the fire was curtailed and restricted from spreading to other nearby buildings and properties.

“No casualty was recorded. The cause of the fire incident was yet to establish and post fire incident investigation is ongoing to ascertain the root cause of the incident.”
