A 19-year-old unlicensed driver, Nsikak Okon, has been arrested by the operatives of the Edo State Police Command for allegedly knocking down three officers while evading police check.

The incident, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, occurred along Iyekogba Estate Gate, Benin City, the state capital.

The PPRO explained that the suspect drove against traffic, breached a police checkpoint barricade, made a turn and drove back at officers on duty, “knocking down three police personnel, who were on lawful duty”.

The Command’s spokesperson further said that the suspect subsequently crashed into multiple vehicles before he was restrained and arrested.
