A 35-year-old man has been apprehended by the Yobe State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl in Babbangida town, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of the state.

The Police spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement explained that the operatives of the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters arrested Aliyu Yarima of Potiskum Local Government Area following a distress report.

According to him, preliminary investigations have revealed that on 16th January 2026, the suspect allegedly lured the victim and gave her a soft drink mixed with hard drugs, which rendered her unconscious.

The statement further explained that he then took her to his residence, where he allegedly committed the act of rape, stressing that the victim reportedly sustained serious internal injuries, which delayed her reporting the incident.

He urged members of the public to report cases of sexual abuse and other criminal acts promptly to the nearest police station, stressing the command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable persons.
