Abia North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has declared his full support for the Senate’s decision to approve the electronic transmission of election results directly from polling units.

Orji Kalu expressed his support in a statement following Tuesday’s emergency plenary.

Recall that the red chamber on Tuesday amended Section 60 of the Electoral Act to allow presiding officers at polling units to electronically transmit election results to the Results Viewing Portal (IREV) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

DAILY POST reports that the amendment means electronic transmission becomes the primary method where the technology is available and functional.

He said, “Today at the emergency plenary, I supported and added my voice to the Senate’s new position approving the electronic transmission of election results from polling units across Nigeria.
