Unidentified youths and women on Saturday disrupted an empowerment programme organized by a woman, simply identified as Chief Adejoke Mistura Adeyemi, in Oke-Onigbin town, Kwara State, within the Kwara South Senatorial District.

According to reports reaching DAILY POST, the philanthropist organized the programme for select residents of four local government areas: Isin, Oke-Ero, Ekiti, and Irepodun.

Items shared included 10 cars, one Bajaj motorcycle, 10 chest freezers, 20 grinding machines, 10 hairstyle dryers, four makeup tools, 10 generator sets, and 30 sewing machines.

Though the items were successfully distributed to the lucky beneficiaries, confusion broke out midway into the programme when some unidentified youths and women from the community invaded the arena and carted away large quantities of 5-kilogram bags of rice reserved for other beneficiaries.

Security sources disclosed that “they overpowered the security team, comprising soldiers, police, Civil Defence Corps, Road Safety officials, and local hunters at the venue of the event.”

Important dignitaries present included Hon. Jolayemi Benjamen, Hon. Rasaki Omotosho, and Segun Adebayo.

Also in attendance were traditional rulers: Oba Olómù of Omu Aran, Oba Kalmadeen Salawudeen Onigbin of Oke-Onigbin, Oba Omotayo, Onigbesi of Igbésí, Oniwo of Oke Aba, and other prominent personalities.

No casualty was recorded during the invasion, security sources confirmed.
