Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has issued a strong warning to individuals involved in violence, declaring that security agencies will deal decisively with anyone threatening peace in the state.
The governor gave the warning in Suleja after joining thousands of Muslim faithful to observe the Eid prayers marking this year’s Eid al-Fitr.
Speaking shortly after the two-unit congregational prayers, which signify the end of Ramadan, Bago cautioned those choosing the path of violence to renounce it or face the full weight of the law.
He stressed that his administration would not tolerate actions capable of disrupting the relative peace in the state, adding that security agencies have been placed on alert to respond firmly to any threat.
The governor also urged Muslims to remain law-abiding and to uphold the values of tolerance, love, and mutual respect, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
The Eid prayers were led by the Salanke of Zazzau, Suleja, Malam Abdullahi Kasim, and attended by the Emir of Suleja, Muhammadu Awwal Ibrahim, alongside other top government officials.
In his remarks, the Emir of Suleja, Awwal Ibrahim, commended the governor for celebrating with the people and called on residents to continue praying for peace, unity, and development in the state and the country.
