The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has urged opposition parties to shift their attention toward rebuilding their structures, refining strategies, and preparing for the 2031 elections instead of disputing what it described as concluded 2027 mandates through distractions or unproductive rhetoric.

This position was made known by the Lagos APC Spokesman, Seye Oladejo, in a statement issued on Wednesday addressing recent political discussions and activities of opposition parties both in the state and across the country.

According to the statement, “While opposition parties play an important role in strengthening democratic governance, such participation must be grounded in realism, responsibility, and respect for the mandate freely given by the people. The outcome of recent elections reflects the confidence of Nigerians in the leadership, vision, and developmental trajectory set forth by the APC.”

The party also faulted opposition groups for what it described as poor preparation and lack of unity, noting that last-minute alliances formed ahead of primaries point to disorganization.

“Rather than dissipating energy contesting settled mandates, we strongly advise opposition elements to focus on rebuilding, re-strategizing, and preparing meaningfully for the 2031 elections,” the statement said.

APC reiterated that governance requires seriousness, adding that its focus remains on fulfilling its commitments, including improving infrastructure, expanding economic opportunities, strengthening security, and enhancing citizens’ welfare.

It further encouraged opposition parties to adopt a more constructive approach by recognizing electoral outcomes and existing political realities.

“The road to 2031 offers ample time for reflection, internal reforms, and the development of credible alternatives. Until then, Lagosians expect all political actors to contribute positively to the peace, stability, and progress of our state,” the statement added.
