As controversies continue over the National Convention conducted by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, a forum within the party has rallied members to join the minister in rebuilding the party.

DAILY POST recalls that the PDP held the convention on Sunday in Abuja amid battle with another faction of the party.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, Comrade Adams Abonu, Convener of the PDP Aspirants Forum, urged party members to unite under the new leadership of the party.

He said Wike’s “sound leadership acumen” had brought respite to the party, urging stakeholders and supporters of the party “to rally around the Wike to bring needed harmony to the party”.

“Our forum has observed with great relief the successful conduct the National Convention of our great party last Sunday.

“We observe the cooperation shown by various leaders of the party towards ensuring that the convention is held without much ado.

“While thanking stakeholders and members of our party across the federation, we have to particularly appreciate the leadership acumen of Ezenwo Nyeson Wike, Honorable Minister of the Federal Capital and national leader of PDP.

“Our leader has shown that he has the wherewithal to rally our party together and forge a path towards revival.

“We also declare that where Wike leads, we follow,” Abonu, stated.

He urged those who might still harbour misgivings to join Wike so as to salvage the declining fortunes of the party.

“With this convention successfully held and recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), we now have a viable platform to aspire to represent the interests of our people across Nigeria,” Abonu said.
