Abducted Nasarawa State University students regain freedom

Some students of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK, who were earlier abducted by unknown gunmen have regained their freedom after days in captivity.

The development was confirmed on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Keffi, Nasarawa State, after coordinated efforts involving security operatives and community.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, while confirming the development, expressed relief over the safe return of the students.

She said, “We are grateful to God that our students have been released safely. They are currently undergoing medical checks and psychological support.”

The Nasarawa State Police Command also confirmed the rescue but declined to give full operational details according to daily trust.

“The students have been rescued. Further information will be provided as investigations continue,” the command stated.

One of the released students, who spoke briefly on condition of anonymity, described the ordeal as “traumatic” but expressed gratitude to to be alive.

“We didn’t know if we would make it out. We are just grateful to be back home,” the student said.

Nasarawa State police authorities have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down the kidnappers and prevent future attacks.
