The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary in Kano has returned 20 serving legislators through consensus arrangements, while a serving House of Representatives member in Bagwai/Shanono, Yusuf Badau, defeated Faruk Lawan to clinch the party ticket.

Speaking in a recorded voice message, the party’s state public relations officer, Auwalu Soja, said they had reached an agreement to ensure that 20 House of Representatives contestants adopted consensus, while four others disagreed, resulting in primary elections in their constituencies.

He said in Bagwai/Shanono Federal Constituency, Yusuf Ahmad Badau defeated a former House of Representatives member, Faruk Lawan, while in Madobi/Garun Mallam, Sulaiman Mukthar Ishaq was returned elected.

Soja explained that in Dambatta Federal Constituency, the serving House of Representatives member, Hamisu Chidari, was elected for a third term, while in Dawakin Kudu/Warawa, Mustapha Bala Maigidan Ruwa won the party primary.

The party spokesperson noted that the conduct of the primaries was carried out in a mature and peaceful manner without any breach of security.

Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, and Abdulmumini Jibrin Kofa were among the 20 consensus candidates who secured their tickets without primary elections.
