The Police Service Commission has debunked a police recruitment list circulating on social media, describing it as fake and urging members of the public to disregard it.
Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Police Service Commission, Abuja, said in a statement on Monday: “The attention of the Police Service Commission has been drawn to a fake list currently circulating on social media, purporting to be a shortlist of candidates scheduled for medical examination.”
According to the statement, the commission wishes to state categorically that no such shortlist has been released.
It said the evaluation of the written examination is still at its concluding stage and that invitations for medical examinations will be communicated to successful applicants in the coming days.
It added that notifications will be sent via email, SMS, the recruitment portal (npfapplication.psc.gov.ng), and the commission’s other official communication channels.
The statement reiterated the commission’s commitment to a merit-based recruitment process, which it has consistently upheld. It noted that the effectiveness of the police force depends on the quality of personnel recruited.
It advised applicants and members of the public to be wary of fraudsters and fake news.
All official communications regarding the ongoing recruitment process, it said, will be disseminated solely through the Commission’s verified channels.
