PRESS STATEMENT

The Socio-Economic Research and Development Centre (SERDEC) warmly congratulates the Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Head of Transparency International (TI) Nigeria, Comrade Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, on his well-deserved Award with the prestigious global Amalia Award by Transparency International in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the promotion of transparency, accountability, integrity, and good governance.

This well-earned global honour named after the late Amalia Kostanyan, former Chair of Transparency International Armenia, celebrates individuals’ exceptional contributions and professional Excellence in outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption efforts. The award reflects Comrade Rafsanjani’s unwavering commitment to the fight against corruption and decades of dedicated service in advancing democratic governance and public accountability in Nigeria and beyond. Through his exemplary leadership as Executive Director CISLAC/TI Nigeria, Chairman Board of Trustee Amnesty International Nigeria, Chairman, Cooperate Accountability and Public Accountability Africa (CAPPA), Chairman, Transition Monitoring Group, Chairman, Zero Corruption Coalition (ZCC) and many more across the continent, he has remained a leading voice in advocating for institutional reforms, advancing transparency in public resource management, and increased citizen participation in governance.

This global recognition is not only a celebration of the great impact of Comrade, Rafsanjani’s remarkable achievements but also an acknowledgement of the vital role played by civil society organisations which he has mentored and supported in promoting accountability, defending democratic values, and fostering sustainable development in Nigeria and beyond. As an organisation committed to strengthening socio-economic development and democratic governance, SERDEC celebrates this milestone and expresses gratitude to Transparency International and the entire civil society community. We wish Comrade.
