Former Chelsea playmaker, Joe Cole, is confident that England will beat Argentina in the semi-final of the 2026 World Cup.

The Three Lions claimed a narrow 2-1 victory over Norway in the quarter-final, while Lionel Messi and co needed extra time to see off 10-man Switzerland.

Cole, speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, is backing his country to put Argentina “to sleep”.

He said: “Messi facing England for the first time? We are going to put him to sleep.

“We are going to put him to sleep, 100%.

“I am saying it right now, England will reach the World Cup Final.
