Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, the distinguished senator representing Kogi East, embodies the perfect blend of administrative experience and leadership qualities. With a career spanning over three decades, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho has established himself as a seasoned administrator, banker and politician.

Born on February 28, 1960, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho’s academic prowess is evident in his impressive educational background. He attended LGEA Primary School, Ajiolo-Ojaji, from 1967 to 1972 and later proceeded to Our Lady of School, Anyigba for his secondary education between 1973 and 1977 . He furthered his education at Bayero University Kano where he obtained a degree in Economics in 1983. His academic achievements didn’t stop there; he went on to obtain master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Lagos in 1991, Petroleum and Energy from the University of Ibadan in 2002 and an MBA from the University of Nigeria in 2003 .

Senator Echocho’s professional career began in 1988 when he joined Chase Merchant Bank Plc as an analyst. He later moved to Afribank International Limited (Merchant Bankers) in 1991, where he served as the head of Project Finance/Leasing Department. His exceptional leadership skills and administrative expertise earned him the position of head of Capital Market group in 1993. By 1998, he had risen to become the Managing Director/Chief Executive of AIL Securities Limited.

Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho’s foray into politics began in 2011 when he contested for the governorship ticket of the People’s Democratic Party, although he lost to Idris Wada . Undeterred, he continued to pursue his passion for public service and was eventually elected as the senator representing Kogi East in the 2019 general election .

As a senator, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho has distinguished himself as a champion of his people’s interests. He has sponsored and supported several bills aimed at driving progress and development in Kogi East.
