Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has warned Israel over its ongoing military actions in Gaza, saying history will repeat itself.

In a post on Facebook on Tuesday, Gumi likened the situation to the Crusades, claiming that just as Saladin defeated the Crusaders, Israel would also face defeat.

“Don’t despair! This is what the Crusaders did that Saladin later defeated. History will repeat itself. I said it in the affirmative because Allah the Almighty has so wished,” Gumi wrote.

His remarks came amid escalating violence in Gaza, where families were seen throwing belongings out of windows in panic.

The development came after they were given minutes to flee the Mahna Tower in Gaza City before it was bombed and destroyed by Israeli forces.
