Operatives of the Igbeba Divisional Police Headquarters, Ijebu Ode, have arrested one Fatai Quadri for violently assaulting and threatening his wife, Rukayat Quadri, at their residence in Illese-Ijebu.

DAILY POST gathered that the assault stemmed from a marital dispute arising from allegations of infidelity.

The suspect was said to have transferred ownership of a 10-room en-suite apartment, jointly built with his wife, to another woman.

In a viral video that captured him violently assaulting and threatening her on Monday, he was also seen inflicting blows with his fists, thereby causing bodily harm.

The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Saturday.

Odutola stated that the victim is presently receiving medical treatment, while the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Lanre Ogunlowo, reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for domestic violence and warned that anyone found culpable of such acts will face the full wrath of the law.

He advised members of the public, especially victims of domestic abuse, to promptly report all forms of violence or threats to the nearest police station for immediate action, saying, “silence only empowers perpetrators, but timely reporting ensures protection and justice.”
