A member of the House of Representatives representing Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency in Sokoto, Abdussamad Dasuki, has stepped down from re-contesting the position come 2027.

In a statement, Dasuki said the decision was a personal sacrifice to give younger Nigerians a chance to serve.

He emphasized the need for sacrifice to make the country achieve the height it yearned for, adding that his decision to step down followed due consultation with his team, leader, family and conscience,

“I have decided not to seek re-election to the House of Representatives in 2027. This is not born out of fatigue or disillusionment, but a higher calling — a decision rooted in belief, in hope, and in a future we all desire to see,” he said.

DAILY POST reports that Dasuki first held elective office in 2011.

He has served in the Sokoto State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council, and currently in the National Assembly.
