The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects over their alleged involvement in an armed robbery and house-breaking incident in Gadau Town, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the gang.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the robbery occurred in the early hours of June 8, 2026, when five armed men allegedly stormed the residence of a 28-year-old man.

Police said the attackers, armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons, forced open the victim’s bedroom door, threatened him and his wife, tied them up, and carted away valuables estimated at ₦4 million.

The stolen items included a Jincheng motorcycle, five Android mobile phones, ten sets of wrappers, ₦1 million in cash, three wristwatches and a cap.

“Following a report lodged on July 3, detectives launched an intelligence-led investigation that led to the arrest of Salisu Umar, 20, of Gadau, and Sadiq Shehu, 20, of Azare in Katagum Local Government Area” said the statement

Police said the complainant’s wife identified Sadiq Shehu during an identification parade as one of the men who entered her room and allegedly forced her to open the main gate for the other attackers.

The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the officers involved in the operation and ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Aliyu assured residents that police would continue pursuing the remaining suspects until they are brought to justice.

“Concerted efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining fleeing suspects and all those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law. We also urge members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information that will aid the police in curbing crime,” he added.
