The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has announced a planned seven-hour power outage in parts of Abuja to allow for preventive maintenance at the Katampe 132/33 kilovolt transmission substation.

TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday.

According to the statement, the maintenance exercise will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will involve work on the 100 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA, 132/33kV power transformer, its auxiliary equipment, and associated switchgear)

Mbah explained that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, would be unable to receive bulk power from the substation during the maintenance period.

As a result, electricity supply will be temporarily disrupted in parts of Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Life Camp, Kado Fish Market, Idu-Karmo and surrounding areas.

TCN apologised for the inconvenience the planned outage may cause customers, noting that regular maintenance is necessary to ensure the continued efficient and reliable performance of its equipment.
