The Commander, 31 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Kabir Rabiu, has ordered troops deployed at the Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Plant to remain vigilant and avoid distractions that could compromise security at the critical national infrastructure.

Rabiu gave the directive during an inspection of troops at the Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Plant, ZHPP, and Zungeru Cemetery on Monday and Tuesday as part of his operational familiarisation visits within the Brigade’s area of responsibility.

The Commander specifically cautioned personnel against unnecessary use of smartphones and social media while on duty, directing that phones should only be used when authorised or operationally necessary.

He also warned troops against drug abuse, betting and gambling, stressing that such habits could undermine their discipline, health and operational effectiveness.

At the power plant, Rabiu interacted with the facility’s management and commended troops for their commitment to protecting the strategic installation.

The Power Plant Manager, Engineer Alfa Isah, appreciated the troops for their professionalism and dedication to safeguarding the facility.

Earlier, Rabiu visited the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, where he called for stronger collaboration and intelligence sharing among security agencies to tackle banditry and other criminal activities.

He stressed the importance of timely information exchange and mutual support in protecting lives, property and critical national infrastructure.

The Commander also visited the 313 Artillery Regiment, where he was briefed on its operational and administrative activities.
