Bandits have released 13-year-old Hassana Bulus, who was kidnapped alongside others in Awon village, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on April 20, 2026.

However, the young girl died a few hours after her release while receiving treatment at a health facility in Kachia.

Former Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to late Kaduna State Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, Mr Reuben Buhari, who confirmed the development on his verified Facebook page on Thursday, said the girl spent several months in the kidnappers’ den before she was released.

According to Buhari, Hassana was kidnapped from her home alongside others on April 20 and taken into the bush.

“For seven long months, this little girl was held captive in the bush, enduring pain and horrors no 13-year-old should ever have to see, let alone live through.

“She was finally freed on November 2 and taken to a hospital in Kachia. On November 3, just a few hours after tasting freedom, she died. May her gentle soul rest in peace,” he wrote.
