Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu has said that the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, needs a mayor and not a minister.

Yesufu said this in a statement posted on her verified X handle on Friday.

Her comment came a few hours before the FCT Area Council election, where residents of the nation’s capital city would go to the polls and elect who would spearhead the activities of the six area councils.

The co-convener of the #BringBackOurGirl, said, “Abuja needs a mayor! This nonsense appointment of a minister as the executive head of FCT needs to stop.”

Reacting, an X user, @jayeobajaye said, “If we are even copying the American system of government then we should copy it as a whole and not the partial way that is leading us nowhere.”
