Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State says his predecessor, Sen Umaru Al-Makura, is not his political godfather.

Speaking during an interview on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Television, Sule said Al-Makura did not make him governor.

He was speaking on his relationship with the former governor, and admitted that he mentored him into politics.

“Al-Makura didn’t bring me into office. He supported me when I was coming into office. He didn’t pick me from the dustbin.

“He picked me as a group managing director of a quoted company. He is not my godfather; he mentored me into politics.

“The truth of the matter is that Senator Al-Makura also as an individual, had a preferred aspirant, and he has the right to have a preferred aspirant.

“And his preferred aspirant may not be my preferred aspirant, because of the fact that they come from two different zones. And I strongly believe then, I believe now, I believe tomorrow that it will not be fair to still go back to his own that has just finished 12 years. That’s my justification,” the governor said.
