A United States-based political advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, says the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, has Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu on wire tape in the ongoing alleged drug trafficking case against him.

Von Batten-Montague-York made this disclosure in a statement posted on its verified X handle on Thursday.

The firm added that In the FBI filing before the court, the FBI asked the court not to allow the disclosure of highly sensitive wiretape recordings responsive to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.

According to the firm, the FBI admitted that the Tinubu-responsive records contain wiretape material, noting that afterward, the FBI stated that the wiretap-responsive records were compiled in furtherance of its investigation of multiple individuals for heroin-trafficking crimes.

“In our plain-English reading of the document, the FBI has Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on tape connected to heroin-trafficking crimes.

“Not surprisingly, the FBI goes on to specifically invoke FOIA Exemption 3 and 18 U.S.C. 2510–2520, the federal law governing Title III wiretapes, to protect the identities of individuals targeted for interception and information obtained from those wiretaps.

“We truly hope that the court puts aside the FBI’s argument and orders the release of the wiretape material. If Nigerian President Tinubu is on those wiretapes connected to heroin trafficking, the American people, the DonaldTrump  Administration, Congress, and the Nigerian people deserve to know what those tapes contain,” the firm tweeted.
