Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has said that the US Senator Ted Cruz’s allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria are based on hearsay.
Bwala made this statement in an interview on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Television.
DAILY POST recalls that Senator Ted Cruz had alleged that the killing in Nigeria is a calculated genocide against the Christians.
Responding, Bwala said, “First of all Senator Ted Cruz is having a declining popularity in the US because of some of the extreme positions he has taken which people are not happy with him.
“Some of the reports that Ted Cruz used happened as far back as in 2015 and even in 2018. The reference he made to the killings in 2025, he said the report they got from Sahara Reporters, one civil society and what they called open source.
“Almost all the things published were based on hearsay. Now, if you are writing a report, you have to go to the root of the source. You have to verify the point. No where in this his report has he established one fact that this report stemmed from a research by their organization.
“One intriguing thing of his report is that he has analysed every killing in Nigeria, but there’s one killing that he refused to acknowledge. In fact, he even said that all of the killings of priests, the citizens of the Southern part of Nigeria are perpetrated by the Nigeria’s security forces in the pretext of the fight against the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.”
