The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned Idris Gana Mohammed over an alleged N6.85 million fraud after he was accused of collecting money for a Toyota Camry and failing to deliver the vehicle.
Mohammed was arraigned by the EFCC Abuja Zonal Directorate on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, before Justice A.M. Abdullahi of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Maitama.
The commission charged him with one count of criminal misappropriation and obtaining money by false pretence.
According to the EFCC, Mohammed received N6.85 million from Ampatech Nigeria Limited between June 10 and 13, 2026, as payment for a black Toyota Camry.
The commission alleged that he neither delivered the vehicle nor returned the money to the company.
The charge read in part: “That you Idris Gana Mohammed sometimes between 10th and 13th June 2026, at Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, dishonestly converted to your personal use the aggregate sum of N6,850,000.00.”
Mohammed pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
EFCC prosecutor, G.G. Gajere, subsequently asked the court to commence trial, while defence counsel, Ibrahim Jibril, informed the judge that he had filed a bail application and served the prosecution.
After hearing both sides, Justice Abdullahi adjourned the case until September 24, 2026, for commencement of trial.
The judge also ordered that Mohammed be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the next hearing.
The case followed a petition by Mohammed Ahmed Patigi of Ampatech Nigeria Limited, which alleged that the N6.85 million was paid to the defendant for the purchase of the Toyota Camry.
