The Federal Fire Service, FFS, Federal Capital Territory, FCT Command, has placed its personnel on heightened alert, announcing a “no holiday” directive to ensure the protection of lives and property during the Eid-il-Fitr celebrations.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SF Anyam Barnabas, the FCT Controller, Mohammed Suleiman Anas, stressed that the Service would remain fully operational throughout the festive period.
Addressing station commanders during a pre-Eid briefing, Anas directed that maximum manpower be deployed across all units, with strict instructions to ensure that fire trucks and rescue equipment are fully functional and ready for rapid response.
He reiterated that the Service, as a critical emergency agency, does not observe public holidays, maintaining round-the-clock readiness to tackle emergencies across the Federal Capital Territory.
“The Service provides essential services and does not shut down for holidays,” Anas said, assuring residents of prompt intervention in the event of any emergency.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan, he cautioned that festive periods are often associated with increased fire risks.
He advised residents to observe basic safety measures, including switching off electrical appliances when not in use, avoiding unattended cooking, and refraining from the use of fireworks.
Anas also urged members of the public to keep emergency contact lines accessible, noting that incidents can be promptly reported to the FCT Command via 08032003557.
