As the planned protest is set to take off 1st August, 2024 in some selected cities of Nigeria, A former Lagos State House of Assembly Aspirant in Alimosho 01, Hon Otunba Kayode Matthew Akintomo is urging residents of Alimosho federal constituency to remain calm and avoid violence this period.
He made this appeal in a telephone chat with the Chief Media Editor of Brooom Nigeria, Prince Babatunde Kolawole.
The protest organized by a faceless advocacy group, aims to bring attention to hunger and bad governance . However, concerns have raised it that the protest has been hijacked.
The philanthropist said Govt understand the frustrations that have led to this protest, but Nigerians youths must ensure that their voices are heard through peaceful means. Otunba called on residence of his constituency to remain calm, respectful, and law-abiding.
“We value the right to peaceful assembly, but we must also prioritize public safety” Hon Kayode was quoted while calling for more visible police presence to ensure that the protest remains peaceful.
Hon Kayode Matthew Akintomo urged residents to come together in a spirit of unity and respect, even in the face of disagreement.
