Folashade Oluwafemiayo produced a stunning performance to claim gold medal in the Women’s Heavyweight Para Powerlifting event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, DAILY POST reports.

Oluwafemiayo set a new world record , lifting 175kg to amass a total of 134.8 points.

Her compatriot Rita Ferdinand lifted 158kg to secure the silver medal.

Remarkably, Ferdinand also surpassed the previous world record, capping a breathtaking Nigerian clean sweep of the top two positions.

Australia’s Hani Watson claimed the bronze medal with 111.5kg.

It marks Nigeria’s second one-two finish of the day in para powerlifting. Esther Nworgu, and Esther Oyema had earlier claimed gold and silver in the Women’s Lightweight event.
