Gov Abdulrazaq preaches peace, unity in Nigeria

Muslim faithful on Wednesday converged on the Ilorin Central Praying Ground, Yidi Road, to observe the two-raka’at Eid-al-Adha prayer in a peaceful atmosphere.

In attendance were Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, top government officials, title chiefs and party chieftains.

Speaking in a short interview after observing the Eid prayers, the governor prayed to Allah to make peace, unity and progress permanent features of Kwara State and Nigeria.

“We thank Almighty Allah for making us witness another Eid. My message is about peace, unity and progress of the country. I wish us all Eid Mubarak,” the governor said.

Gov. AbdulRazaq called on citizens to remain united and work for a better country.

For his part, the Turaki of Ilorin, Senator Saliu Mustapha, rejoiced with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of Eid-al-Adha and prayed to Allah to accept it as an act of worship.

“May Allah accept our act of Ibadah. May He spare our lives to witness more of it,” Senator Mustapha prayed.

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, prayed for continuous peace and prosperity for the state and Nigeria, urging unity among sons and daughters of the Ilorin Emirate.

In his sermon, the Imam Imale, Sheikh Abdullah AbdulHameed, advised the congregants to reflect on and imbibe the lessons of Eid-el-Adha.

The Eid prayer was attended by a wide range of senior citizens, statesmen and title holders from across the emirate, including the Waziri of Ilorin, Dr. Bukola Saraki; the Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaiman Faruk Onikijipa; former Vice Chancellors, Prof. Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem and Prof. AbdulRasheed Na’Allah; and former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alfa Belgore.
