A top ally of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State and former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Idi Hong, has resigned from Fintiri’s Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Also a Senior Special Assistant to Fintiri, Mohammed Sanusi has announced his defection from the PDP.

Both personalities cite personal reasons, even as observers note that they made their decision at a time that Fintiri himself is being increasingly rumoured to be almost set to leave the PDP.

In his resignation letter sent on Monday to the Chairman of the PDP in Shangui Ward of his Hong Local Government Area, Idi Hong said he reached his decision after careful reflection on prevailing circumstances and his future political direction.

‎”I write to formally tender my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Shangui Ward, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, with immediate effect,” Idi Hing stated.

Idi Hong who was the PDP state agent during the 2023 election and played a dogged role in the course of the crisis that erupted after the APC candidate in that election was prematurely declared winner, described his association with the PDP as impactful.

He stated, ‎”While I take this step, I acknowledge the role the party has played in my journey and appreciate all those I worked with during my time in the PDP.”

The trained medical doctor served in various capacities at the federal level under the PDP, including being Minister of State for Health and later for Foreign Affairs.

In his own formal letter of resignation, Mohammed Sanusi who is also from Hong LGA, stated that his decision was not influenced by any external factors but by his personal judgment and conviction.

“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity to serve and work alongside you. I am grateful for the support and experiences gained during my time with the party,” Sanusi wrote.

DAILY POST reports that Sanusi previously served as campaign DG for Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani of APC in the 2023 governorship election but defected to the PDP and got appointed as Fintiri’s assistant.
