A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Taofiq Raimi, says the Kwankwasiyya structure in Kano State would no longer be as formidable as it used to be.

Speaking in an interview on Arise Television, monitored by DAILY POST, Raimi said things have changed in the state.

He noted that the difference between the votes garnered by then New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, candidate, Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf, and that of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress,  APC, in the last election was not much.

According to him, now that Governor Yusuf has joined the APC, the party will be even stronger in 2027.

Raimi said, “The one thing about us as a party is that we don’t underrate our opponents. But we are very confident that Abba Yusuf is going to have it successful by 2027.

“The reason being that even if you look at the 2023 election in Kano, the gap between the APC candidate then and that of Governor Yusuf, the then candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, is pretty not so wide.

“So,  now that we already have our own followers and our own people who believe in what we are doing, as well as the opportunity that Abba Yusuf is bringing into APC now, it will mean that when you aggregate these two opportunities, definitely Governor Yusuf is going to have an easy way.

“And I believe that we are also trying to make sure that we speak and discuss and negotiate with our existing structure so that we can fully accommodate Governor Yusuf and the people that are coming with it.

“So I believe that the Kwankwasiyya structure, which we are not underrating, wouldn’t be as very formidable as it used to be back in 2023. Things have changed and things are changing.”
