The Kano state Police command has arrested two suspects in connection with burglary and theft, which led to the recovery of several stolen items.

The suspects who were arrested on August 7, 2025, at around 3:00 p.m., are identified as Umar Aliyu (25), and Sabiu Kabiru (27), both live in Gunduwawa Village in the Gezawa Local Government Area.

They were arrested by operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad after receiving credible intelligence and the direction of the State Commissioner of Police.

In a statement issued by the public relations officer of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, a search of the suspects led to the recovery of 23 mobile phones, including a mix of 10 android and 13 keypad phones, three Point-of-sale machines, 17 Opay instant debit cards, three MP3 players, eight phone batteries, and a power bank.

“During the investigation, the suspects confessed to conspiring and breaking into a business center in Dinyar Madiga Village, Takai Local Government Area, where they allegedly stole the items. However, further investigation revealed inconsistencies in their claim, and it was determined that the stolen items were not taken from the stated location.” The statement partly reads.

The command further revealed the items recovered will be showcased at the Bompai Police Headquarters in order to find the rightful owners.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori assured residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring security of lives and properties in the state.
