The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Gboyega Akosile, has dismissed claims circulating online that kidnapping incidents along the Gbagada Expressway are reportedly on the rise.
The claim, circulated in a flyer purporting to be issued by the Lagos State Government, warned residents about an increase in abductions along the expressway and advised commuters to exercise extreme caution, avoid late-night travel, and consider alternative routes.
The message also alleged that perpetrators were employing the so-called ‘one chance’ method and using commercial buses to target unsuspecting passengers.
Reacting to the flyer, Akosile stated that the notification is entirely false and has been repeatedly debunked in the past.
Posting on his official X handle on Friday, he said: “Good morning Lagos, please beware of this fake news circulating again! We have addressed it before, but those spreading false information continue to recycle it. Kindly disregard this notification. Thank you.”
The Lagos State Government continues to urge residents to rely only on verified information from official government and security channels and to remain vigilant while commuting.
