The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State Command has arrested a 32-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Richard, for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old stepdaughter.

This is as DAILY POST gathered that the victim began discharging maggots following the abuse, prompting urgent intervention.

Osun NSCDC, Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo disclosed that the suspect was detained on November 14, 2025, after his wife reported that her daughter was sexually abused and was suffering severe infections.

The wife told investigators that her “daughter was staying with her husband’s mother before the incident. During a visit to his mother’s home, Richard reportedly inserted his fingers into the child’s private parts.”

Further investigation revealed that “the suspect had been seeking assistance from an herbalist concerning some personal issues prior to the alleged abuse.”

The victim’s mother shared that she “left the marriage due to physical abuse but left her daughter in the care of her husband’s mother.”

After relocating, she had requested to bring her daughter to live with her.

“The suspect promised to retrieve the child and on the very day the stepdaughter was brought to her mother’s house, she was defiled by Richard”, the mother said.

The mother revealed that she noticed a strong foul smell emanating from the victim and on examination found maggots in her private parts, indicating the severity of the abuse.

Commandant Sotiyo confirmed that Richard voluntarily confessed to the crime during interrogation.

In his statement, the suspect said that he had excitedly purchased a new motorcycle on instalment that day and consumed alcohol, which he said influenced his actions.

The victim has since been taken to hospital for comprehensive medical treatment, according to the NSCDC.

Commandant Igbalawole warned that any individual preying on minors would face stringent legal consequences and that no leniency would be granted.

He also reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to ensuring all criminals in Osun State are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
