The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has declared that the era of stifling local government councils will be over next year.
Alli made this declaration while addressing a group of residents during a dialogue on the future of the state.
The event was organised by Oyo Rising Citizens Forum, ORCF, on Tuesday in Ibadan, the state capital.
Alli, while addressing the gathering, explained that the grievances of residents affected by the circular road construction would be addressed within 48 to 72 hours.
He also disclosed that the era of selling state assets would be over.
He added that his administration would leverage agriculture and mining.
He also said that his government would establish at least one cottage industry in each local government area.
Alli also promised to reduce classroom population to a maximum of 30 pupils per class.
He said, “My administration will not spend one kobo belonging to local governments. They will build their schools, build their health centres and employ their own workers. That era of stifling the councils is over.
“I will set up a committee within 48 to 72 hours to address the grievances of all affected residents. We will not seize people’s land and we will not sell state assets.”
