Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has recorded a major academic breakthrough as the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted full accreditation to 27 programmes following its October/November 2025 accreditation exercise. The accreditation covers five postgraduate and 22 undergraduate programmes across multiple faculties and the College of Health Sciences, reinforcing the university’s growing profile as a centre of academic excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, who announced the development, described the outcome as a strong validation of the institution’s commitment to quality assurance, academic rigor, and continuous improvement.

According to the NUC report signed by its Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, several key programmes attained full accreditation:
- Faculty of Management Sciences: Accounting, Business Administration, and Public Administration (undergraduate), alongside postgraduate programmes including M.Sc. Accounting, Banking and Finance, Management, Public Administration, and MPA Public Administration.
- Faculty of Agriculture: Fisheries and Aquaculture.
- College of Health Sciences: Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing Science, and Pharmacology.
- Faculty of Arts and Humanities: Arabic, History and International Studies, Islamic Studies, Philosophy, and English and Literary Studies (with Christian Religious Studies receiving interim accreditation).
- Faculty of Computing: Computer Science.
- Faculty of Law: Law (Common and Islamic Law).
- Faculty of Natural Sciences: Botany, Industrial Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, and Zoology.
- Faculty of Social Sciences: Economics and Sociology.
Professor Usman expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for providing the enabling environment and sustained investment in education, which he said played a critical role in the university’s success. He also paid tribute to the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche, under whose leadership the accreditation process was initiated and executed. According to him, her foresight, strategic planning, and resource mobilization were instrumental in laying the foundation for the achievement.
The Vice Chancellor, further noted that similar accreditation successes were recorded during his tenure as Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, underscoring his track record in advancing academic quality. He assured stakeholders that the university would continue to consolidate on its gains, improve programmes with interim status, and maintain high standards in teaching, research, and community service.
The latest accreditation outcome positions PAAU as an emerging leader within Nigeria’s higher education sector, with strengthened credibility in delivering quality academic programmes.
University authorities reaffirmed their commitment to building on the current momentum and advancing toward global academic relevance and competitiveness.
