The Oyo State Police Command has revealed that it has arrested no fewer than 16 suspected cultists.
The command noted that the suspects were arrested within the premises of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

The suspects, according to the command, included 14 males and two females.

It also disclosed that some items were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

The command made these declarations via a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade.

The statement was made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday night.

Ayanlade, in the statement, said that the suspects, suspected to be members of Aiye confraternity, were planning a critical meeting within the premises of the institution.

He added that investigation is still ongoing on the matter.

He said: “During the course of the operation, a total of sixteen (16) suspects comprising fourteen (14) males and two (2) females were arrested at and around the venue.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that some of the suspects had been on the command’s watchlist for their alleged involvement in a series of murder cases and cult-related activities within the state.”
