The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Michael Ayisa, for allegedly robbing a female Point-of-Sale, POS, operator of N200,000 at gunpoint in Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

The police also recovered a pistol resembling a Beretta and an expended 9mm ammunition shell from the suspect.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe disclosed this in a statement, noting that the suspect was arrested on October 18, 2026, by operatives of the Udenu Police Division, with support from members of the Neighborhood Watch Group.

According to the police, the arrest followed a report that the suspect had allegedly robbed the POS operator at her shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor, at about 9 a.m. on October 17.

According to Ndukwe, “preliminary investigations indicated that the victim raised the alarm as the suspect fled the scene, allegedly threatening to shoot anyone who attempted to pursue him”.

The police spokesperson added that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation, while the recovered firearm and ammunition shell had been taken as exhibits.

He said the suspect would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for the arrest and acknowledged the support of the Neighborhood Watch Group.
