A yet-to-be identified pregnant woman has lost her life while four other passengers were severely injured in a road accident that occurred along Akarigbo Road in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The accident which involved an unregistered payloader, a Toyota Camry registered as AAB-248 MK, and a commercial tricycle with number plate JGB-643 VD, occurred at about 9:00 am on Thursday.

DAILY POST learnt that the heavy duty
payloader lost control and swerved to the other side of the road before ramming into the tricycle and car.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the impact of the collision led to the death of the pregnant woman who boarded the tricycle, leaving other male passengers severely injured.

Akinbiyi added that the payloader operator had few bruises, and the Camry driver sustained a serious degree of injury.

He said, “Five people were involved, four male adults and one female adult. The adult female died in the crash.

“Based on the eyewitness’s account, the payloader lost control and swerved from the opposite lane- outbound Sabo – into the other lane – inbound Sabo – and rammed into both the tricycle and the Camry.

“The payloader thereby caused the presumed death of an adult pregnant woman, severe injuries to other adult males in the tricycle, while the payloader operator had few bruises; the Camry driver sustained a serious degree of injury.”
