The release of the kidnapped schoolchildren in Niger State have been confirmed by the Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Most Rev. Bulus Yohanna.
Rev Yohanna is the proprietor of the St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School, where over 300 students were abducted by terrorists, along with their teachers.
Yohanna said that the Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, reached out to him personally to share the good news with him.
The Bishop said that later today, the students and teachers will arrive in Minna, the Niger state capital, where they would be formally received by the governor at the Government House.
The media aide to the bishop, Dan Atori made the confirmation in a brief statement.
Meanwhile, the presidency has said that none of the kidnapped children is left with the abductors.
A spokesman to the President, Sunday Dare, made this known on Sunday.
“Another 130 abducted Niger state pupils released, none left in captivity,” Dare wrote on X.
Also the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris confirmed that all the schoolchildren have returned safely.
He hailed the security agencies for the efforts towards the success story.
