Former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has alleged that the federal government is trying to create a one-party state.

Rhodes-Vivour made this statement on Sunday while responding to questions in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

He charged Nigerians and political actors to rise up and oppose the plans.

“Opposition parties are trying to gather and have meetings and they are being met with violence. From Kaduna to Gombe. Just like what happened in Lagos yesterday.

“If you want to talk about big ideas in politics, you will find that the federal government and state governments seemingly want to create a one-party state.

“If Nigerians and political actors don’t resist that, what is the guarantee there will be an election at this rate,” he asked.
