The Kremlin has threatened to deploy nuclear weapons if the corporeality of Russia, which has the most nuclear warheads, faces an existential threat.

President Vladimir Putin’s aide Dmitry Peskov pointed to the Federation’s nuclear theory in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Die Weltwoche.

The diplomat described Russia’s nuclear doctrine as “bold, simple, and understandable,” saying it stipulates the conditions for the usage of nukes.

“If something endangers the idea of the existence of the Russian state, then nuclear weapons will be used. Otherwise no,” Peskov asserted.

“The rest of the statements are speculations,” the spokesperson added, in reference to European capitals’ comments about Russia’s potential to start a regional war.

At this week’s meeting in Ankara, NATO leaders restated their commitment to The Hague defence obligation to counter “the long-term threat” Russia poses to Euro-Atlantic security and stability.

On the battle in Ukraine, Peskov stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky came to power with an “original promise” to his people that he would end the war.

The official said Zelensky can end it by withdrawing troops “from the Donbas—from the regions that have now become part of Russia—and by recognizing the situation that has become de jure.”

Peskov likened the war to Russia versus a Coalition, noting that on the other side is Ukraine alongside several European nations and the United States supplying Kyiv with “millions of tons of weapons.”
