The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has revealed that Nigeria’s failure to adopt modern technology to fight crime is directly contributing to widespread insecurity, forcing some border communities to strike accords with bandits.
Comrade Gwarzo revealed this on Tuesday while hosting members of the Kano chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel.
He noted that criminals are outmaneuvering security forces by using sophisticated methods, creating a critical technology gap.
The Deputy Governor expressed deep concern over the level of fear gripping the country.
According to him, citizens are now uncertain about safe travel and daily security.
“Some communities at the borders of Kano have even entered accords with bandits, allowing attacks to occur undetected. It is our collective responsibility, together with the media, to confront these challenges,” he said.
He, therefore, urged journalists nationwide, to amplify these issues and push the government toward effective action.
