Adams Akor has dedicated his maiden Africa Cup of Nations goal to his ailing mother, DAILY POST reports.

Akor was one of the star performers in Nigeria’s dominant 4-0 victory over the Mambas of Mozambique in Fès on Monday night.

The Sevilla star scored Nigeria’s fourth goal of the game with a sublime effort 15 minutes from time.

It was Akor’s third goal in eight appearances for the Super Eagles.

It was a remarkable performance from the striker, who put behind him his mother’s sickness to play a key role in the Super Eagles’ win.

The 25-year-old was emotional in his reaction after the game.

“The goal is dedicated to my mum, she’s supposed to be here but she’s at the hospital right now,” Akor told reporters the game.

Akor has featured in all of Nigeria’s four games at the AFCON 2025 finals.
