China and India are strengthening their bilateral relationship on the heels of the recent talks between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday confirmed that China and India will recommence direct flights before the end of October this year.

According to spokesperson Guo Jiakun, the development demonstrates President Xi and PM Modi’s commitment to the understandings reached during their meeting in Tianjin on August 31.

“The direct flights will facilitate the friendly exchanges of over 2.8 billion Chinese and Indian people,” Jiakun said at a press conference.

China expressed readiness to work with India from “a strategic and long-term perspective,” and deliver more dividends to their nationals, while upholding regional and global peace and prosperity.

On the proposed deal on Gaza, China reiterated its call for a full and permanent ceasefire in Gaza to be realized as early as possible to ease the humanitarian crisis.

Jiakun added that the Asian leader upholds the principle of “the Palestinians governing Palestine” and promotes the implementation of the two-State solution.

China assures the international community of its disposition to collective effort to a lasting solution to the Palestinian question and a peaceful and stable Middle East.
