‘I have no faith in Tinubu govt, he should apologize to Jonathan’ – Elemeforo

Deputy Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Ted Elemeforo, has declared that he has no confidence in the administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying the All Progressives Congress, APC, has failed to provide solutions to Nigeria’s problems.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Wednesday, Elemeforo said his decision to remain with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is based on conviction, stressing that the party remains a better alternative for Nigeria.

The remark comes amid the detection of the Bayelsa state Governor Duoye Diri to the ruling APC.

However, Elemeforo said that despite Nigeria’s political challenges, he retains more faith in the PDP’s capacity to reposition the country than in the ruling APC.

He said, “I do not believe that the APC is a solution to Nigeria’s problem, and I do not have faith in the Tinubu-led APC government. I believe that the PDP would offer a better alternative to solve the problem of Nigeria.”

The lawmaker accused the APC of hypocrisy, recalling that the reasons the party gave for voting former President Goodluck Jonathan out of office were the same issues it is now guilty of.

According to him, President Tinubu and other APC leaders who protested against fuel subsidy under Jonathan’s administration owe Nigerians an apology for adopting the same policy they once condemned.

“In this country, there is always a double standard. People like Tinubu that protested against oil subsidy need to publicly apologize to President Goodluck Jonathan for implementing what they earlier criticized,” Elemeforo said.
