President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday received over 64,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and other political parties in Jigawa State who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The President, who was represented by Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni, assured the new members of equal treatment and opportunities within the party.

This was revealed in a statement issued by Governor Buni’s Media Aide, Mamman Mohammed, and made available to newsmen.

The President, through Governor Buni, said: “From today, you will be treated equally with older members of the party, and we are proud of your courage and determination to support the ruling party in its mission and commitment to national development.”

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving security across the country to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians and to facilitate economic development.

“Similarly, the government will ensure the completion of the Kano–Maiduguri federal highway to ease the delivery of goods and services and promote economic growth,” the President assured.

Tinubu commended the Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, for his developmental strides, noting that they have positively impacted the lives of the people.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who led members of the party’s National Working Committee, also commended Governor Namadi for moving the state forward.

He urged the new members to feel at home, saying, “The party belongs to you; you should feel at home and work for the APC.”
