The Court of Appeal has allowed the EFCC’s appeal in the case of EFCC vs. Alhaji Yahaya Bello, with Appeal No: CA/ABJ/CV/412/2024. The judgment, delivered today, has sent shockwaves through the legal and political communities.
In a scathing ruling, the Court described the judgment of the trial court as “scandalous” and ordered Yahaya Bello to make himself available for trial in Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/550/2022, FRN vs. Ali Bello & Ors.
The Court’s statement, “I want all counsel to listen very well. In view of the provisions of Section 396 (2) ACJA, the Respondent i.e Yahaya Adoza Bello should make himself available in Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/550/2022, FRN vs. Ali Bello & Ors before taking any other step in this matter,” indicates that Bello must face trial before pursuing any further legal action.
This development has put Yahaya Bello, already embroiled in controversy, in a precarious position. The EFCC’s appeal was allowed, paving the way for Bello’s trial to proceed.
